Dr Mohamad Faizal Tajul Baharuddin

Dr Mohamad Faizal Tajul Baharuddin (P.Geol) graduated from University Malaya in 1996 with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Geology, Master in Hydrology and Hydraulics from Faculty of Civil Engineering, University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2002 and PhD in Groundwater Engineering from Faculty of Civil Engineering, University Malaya in 2015.

He started his career as a Civil Engineer at Sato Kogyo Ltd after graduating from University of Malaya in 1996. Then in 1997, he joined Calico Advance Sdn Bhd as an engineering geologist, hydrogeologists, geotechnical engineer, laboratory geotechnical manager and geophysicist. In year 2002, he joined UTHM as a lecturer in Department of Civil Engineering UTHM. In the academics, his interest revolves groundwater engineering, groundwater exploration, groundwater contamination, slope stability, soil investigation, geophysics and geo-environment. He is a Registered Professional Geologist Malaysia (PG 52). He joined Geology Society of Malaysia and Institute Geology of Malaysia as a full member He is currently teaching Groundwater Engineering, Hydrology, Watershed Management, Fluid Mechanics, Environmental Risk Assessment, Geo-Environment, Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Geology at the UTHM of Johor since 2002. He is the author and co?author over 50 articles including six books chapter. As a registered Professional Geologist, he is directly involved in various consultancy works in the area of hydrogeology, water modelling, engineering geology, soil investigation work, instrumentation tests, geophysics, civil construction, gold mining, soil-rock slope design, dam inspection and road construction for last 25 years.

He has been appointed as Principal Researcher of Research Center for Soft Soils (RECESS), Integrated Institute Engineering, UTHM and Associate Member of Disaster Preparedness Prevention Center of Malaysia- Japan Institute Technology, UTM.
